How to play Cardle
- Pick a rank and then a suit to place a card — five different cards make a guess. Press Enter to play it.
- Each card flips to show two clues: the top half is its rank, the bottom half its suit.
- Green means that rank or suit is right for this spot.
- Yellow means it's in the hidden hand, but in a different spot.
- Gray means it isn't in the hidden hand at all. A card with both halves green is exactly right.
- Find all five cards, in order, within 6 guesses to keep your streak going.
Cardle FAQ
- When does the Cardle hand change?
- Every day at midnight in your own time zone. Everyone on the same calendar date gets the same puzzle number and the same hand.
- Can the hidden hand contain the same rank or suit twice?
- Yes. The hand is five different cards dealt from one 52-card deck, so ranks and suits can repeat — but the exact same card never appears twice.
- How do repeated ranks and suits get colored?
- Like letters in a word puzzle: each card in the hidden hand can only color one match. Exact-spot matches turn green first, then any left over turn yellow, and the rest turn gray.
- Can I use my keyboard?
- Yes. Type A, 2–9, 0 (for 10), J, Q or K for the rank and S, H, D or C for the suit. Enter plays your guess and Backspace removes a card.
- Where are my stats stored?
- In your browser's local storage, with no account needed. Clearing site data or switching devices starts your streak over.
